POLYUREA POLYUREA
COMPANY PROFILE

Elastomer Specialties, Inc. was established in 1979 as a custom cast urethane house specializing in mining, oilfield, pipeline and manufacturing applications. Although our initial focus was on the development of molding products and parts manufactured from a wide variety of MDI and TDI urethanes, we soon recognized the opportunity made available by the emergence of rapid curing elastomer spray systems. Quick to realize this potential Elastomer Specialties, Inc. made the necessary adjustments and for the next 12 years used this far reaching technology to excel in both contracting and in-house parts applications. The knowledge and experience gained from employing this new generation of quick curing, elastomer system technology continues to play a major role in the ongoing success of the company.

To meet the growing demand for quality, custom molded elastomer parts, Elastomer Specialties, Inc. proudly announced the creation of a new division, Turnkey Manufacturing. Completed in the late 1980’s, this state-of-the-art machine shop provides fast track prototyping and in-house hard and soft mold manufacturing, while eliminating the need to outsource costly and time consuming hard mold production. The caliber of products and services provided by this facility remains second to none.

During the early 1990’s, as the latest technology in raw materials began to emerge, Elastomer Specialties, Inc. concentrated its efforts on developing new polymer systems. 1992, however, was a landmark year for the company as the finishing touches were made on our new 23,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and a special emphasis was placed on the custom urethane casting arena. The next several years included both strong company growth and increasing success. But once again, the ever-evolving elastomer industry was about to change.

As the decade was coming to a close, Elastomer Specialties, Inc. discovered the vast range of benefits and endless application possibilities made available by the next generation of rapid curing elastomer systems. Polyurea, initially developed by Texaco, Inc., was immediately incorporated into our manufacturing operations and forever changed the production strategy of the company. For example, the casting division no longer has to rely on manufacturing its products using the outdated method of preheating molds and post curing every single product. Instead, the implementation of plural component pumps and new hybrid urethane/polyurea systems are utilized. Parts that used to take several employees numerous hours to produce are now being manufactured using a single employee, in a matter of minutes. Recognizing the value of applying this latest technology, and determined to become more self sufficient, Elastomer Specialties, Inc. expanded yet again to include the Polymers Division. Known as the blending arm of the company, and housed in a new 7,000 sq. ft. building, this latest division includes the expertise of an in-house chemist, knowledgeable sales and marketing personnel and a support staff that is second to none.

Today, Elastomer Specialties, Inc. not only manufactures a large portion of the materials for our casting division, we also offer private label production, conduct new product R&D and promote a complete line of high performance, quick curing Polyurea, Urethane/Urea, Polyaspartic and Aliphatic elastomer sealant and coating systems.

With our strong reputation for using tomorrow’s technology in today’s industry, Elastomer Specialties, Inc. remains the worldwide leader in elastomer solutions and continues to be on the cutting edge of polymer development for our customers and industry alike.
