Polyurea Concrete Coating

Pomeroy Pre-Cast Concrete Yard
Overhead view of Harding/Lawson main staging area set up for preparing and coating concrete deck plates, pilings, vent caps & girders using the ELASTOMER SPECIALTIES color stable, fast set, polyurea coating system.

Polyurea Bridge Coating

Application Of PoxyPrime Over PoxyPrime BF
Application of PoxyPrime directly over PoxyPrime BF. Installation of primer is being made using a GlasCraft MX II and Probler Gun. Attached to the end of the Probler gun is a 4 inch static mixing wand. The material is applied at 1500 psi and approximaterly 130°.

Final Coat PolySpar HP Applied To Girders
Application of Elastomer Specialties polyaspartic top coat being appled directly over aromatic polyurea intermediate coat. Application is being made using a Mongoose 1:1 ratio high pressure pump. (Not Heated)

Sand Blasted Concrete Girders
Close up of concrete girders after sandblasting has been completed. Notice how once beams have had the concrete laitance removed by abrasive cleaning, all the bug holes, holidays and pin holes really appear. These must be filled before any primer or coating can be applied.

Polyurea Concrete Coating

Application Of Aromatic Polyurea Intermediate Coat
ElastoGard ARC polyurea spray, being applied at a film thickness of 50 mils. GlasCraft MH, heated, plural component pumps were used to install the ARC at a pressure of 1500-2000 psi and a temperature of 160° F.

Application Of PoxyPrime BF
Phase 1 of the application procedure. During this phase, PosyPrime BF is being applied to previously sand blasted concrete girders using steel trowels. Application of products is designed to fill in all bug holes, pin holes and major holidays in the concrete, leaving a smooth surface for applying ESI epoxy primer (PoxyPrime).

PoxyPrime BF Application Over ElastoGard ARC
Technician applying PoxyPrime BF to small areas of the girder that were previously missed during the initial application of BF. At this stage the intermediate coat of polyurea (ElastoGard ARC) has already been applied. This process is the final touch up phase before application of the color stable top coat, (PolySpar HP).

Girders Completed With All 4 Stages Of Polyurea
Completed concrete girders are removed from the protective spray tent. Masking has been removed from girder ends. Picture shows girder being removed from the coating area in the pre-cast yard with a mobile tower crane.
