CASE HISTORY:
- This project was a new construction facility of approximately 100,000 sq. feet.
- Application temperature at the time of product installation was –20° F.
- The contractor specializes in the construction of cold storage facilities as well as the installation of polyurea sealant and coating systems.

Elastomer Specialties, Inc. Polymers Division Installation Bulletin Three Man Crew Installing ES-2350 Sub-Zero Polyurea

BACKGROUND:
- Contractor contacted Elastomer Specialties, Inc. regarding their ES-2350 SUB-ZERO Polyurea joint sealant.
- The contractor needed and was unable to find a heated delivery system. Elastomer Specialties maintains a Subzero rental unit at all times and was able to assist the contractor by providing both the polyurea joint fill material and the equipment for installation.
- The project size was approximately 15,000 linear feet of new construction joints
- Installation temperature was below 0° F.
MATERIAL:
- Material specified: ES-2350 SubZero a hybrid, 1:1 ratio polyurea specifically developed for concrete crack and control joint sealing on indoor, cold storage, warehouse facilities.
- Material, cures in approximately one hour from time of installation and develops a shore A hardness of 92-95.
- While the product can be hand mixed, on all large projects manufacture recommends that the material be installed using a heated, plural component pump system such as the “Condor” Sub-Zero, manufactured by Elastomer Specialties, Inc.

INSTALLATION:
- This project located in Enid, Oklahoma was completed in the fall of 2002, and took approximately 3-4 weeks to complete.
- The contractor, Gleason Contractors out of North Dakota was responsible for the new facility construction as well as the joint filling.
- Installation procedure was the same as all new construction joint sealing.
- First the joints were re-saw cut to clean out all dirt, concrete dust and debris.
- The joints were vacuumed prior to installing the ES-2350 Sub-Zero polyurea joint fill.
- Material was installed full depth of the joint.
- Once installed, material was sliced off flush with the concrete surface so as to provide a smooth joint transition for the forklift traffic.
