
ES-2100 ElastoFast 90 ES-2350 Sub-Zero
CASE HISTORY:
- This project, at “AMERSERVE” cold storage facility, located in Commerce City, Colorado was installed in the month of March, 2000 by Golden Floor Preparation out of Golden, Colorado. The project consisted of 10,200 linear feet of joints that were to be sealed at ambient temperature and 3500 linear feet of joints that needed to be sealed at –15° F. The facility was an add-on so part of the installation was in new concrete and the rest was in existing joints to replace old failed material.

BACKGROUND:
- The Contractor and Owner negotiated the entire 13,700 lf joint filling project.
- Material specified by contractor was ES-2100 ElastoFast 90 for the ambient temperature areas and ES-2350 Sub-Zero polyurea for all the freezer area.
- Project was to take place over a long 4-day weekend.
- Shut down was a critical issue; therefore a polyurea was specified for its fast cure and high early strength.
MATERIAL:
- Contractor specified material for this project:
- Shore hardness of both materials is 92-95 A.
- Elastomer Specialties, Inc manufactured all materials specified.
- The “CONDOR” Sub-Zero model plural component pump, manufactured by ESI, was used for this installation.

INSTALLATION:
- Standard procedure by the contractor was to remove all of the old, failed joint sealant and regrind the joints.
- On the new construction side of the project, contractor also ground out the new saw cut joints in order to properly clean and reface the joint, removing all of the contaminated concrete dust.
- Once the preparation procedure was completed, the installation began.
- On both sub-zero and ambient temperature installations, the materials were pumped into the joints in such a fashion as to slightly overfil.
- Excess product was trimmed and disposed of and all equipment removed from the facility.
- The project was completed 1 day ahead of schedule.
- Owner was operational with forklifts within 2 hours after contractor left the warehouse.
